Relaxing Get-Away

This house is literally smack dab in the middle of wine country. The location was perfect and the grounds peaceful and amazing. We stayed over labor day weekend, so the wine tasting room was closed Sunday and Monday, which was nice because it made it even more private for our group. (we arrived just in time Saturday to try the wines, though). You are literally surrounded by nature and fresh air. The house comes stocked with everything you need. We were happy to see a grill so we picked up some steak and corn to throw on the grill to go with our wine. Weather was perfect and we spent most of our time outside on the numerous decks/porches that this house has to offer. The house had plenty of space for our party of 5. My contact with Becca was fantastic, she was very responsive and even had suggestions for various wineries in the area. Baranna (at the tasting room) was friendly, and really was knowledgeable about the wines. We even got to meet one of the horses owners, Heather, who works at another nearby winery. Everyone we met on property - friendly and helpful. The house has alot of character, and reminded me of my family home back in Missouri. Its an older home, but has everything you need - even an indoor hot tub! Plenty of space to spread out and relax. If you stay here, I recommend pouring yourself a nice big glass of Pinot Noir and wandering around the grounds - go see the horses, the vineyard and the trails. Take the time to soak in the quiet beauty of this place. Oh, and the beds . . so comfortable! I never am able to sleep well on any other bed but my own (we have a waterbed) but I can attest, the king sized bed in the upper master bedroom was super comfortable. I slept as well as I did at home. The other members of our party agreed that the beds were surprisingly comfortable. All in all, I would recommend this house. When we go back (and we will be back), I’ll be staying here again.

Great Wine Country retreat!

Super cool house on lovely property. I stayed here with some girlfriends for our annual Wine Tour weekend. Expansive deck and lawn are great for lounging in the sun (yard would be prefect for games or wedding activities). Big kitchen is great for cooking with a group. The house is rather dated but in a totally awesome 70’s kinda way- if you like funky, this place is super groovy. If you prefer something a tad more modern, maybe you won’t appreciate it’s quirks (they probably ought to replace the gold shag carpet but whatever!). The pics don’t really do it justice- much cooler in person. A few potential issues for renters: If you want privacy- this place may not be for you. Despite the property being huge and very secluded, there is a wine tasting room 20 feet from the house, which while convenient for tasting, does have traffic. There is also a working horse barn on the property and boarders come and go (though it was really fun to play with their dogs!). In addition, there is another dwelling on the property where people do live (though we didn’t see them). Location- I’m not that crazy about the quality of wine at the tasting rooms in the area so if you need to be close to some of the higher-end stuff, stay in Dundee or Carlton (though it’s a quick and pretty drive to everywhere from the house). While the house and rooms are really comfy and roomy my main complaint is that that they only allow 8 (I think) renters at a time- it can easily accommodate way more folks. After seeing the house, I was disappointed I had to limit the number of folks I could invite given the large space, but I understand that wear and tear are surely an issue with any rental. We found the house to be in perfectly clean condition and Becca, the house manager, was just as nice and helpful as she could be. She made it the process very easy. We would defiantly rent this in the future!
